Ir. Tanja Vervust

Global Director
Rousselot Biomedical

Ir. Tanja Vervust holds a Master of Science in Bioscience Engineering. She has over 25 years of experience at Rousselot where she held different positions such as Process Development Manager, Production Manager, Quality Manager and since 2011 Global Quality Director for Rousselot. In January 2018, she became Global Director Rousselot Biomedical.

Dr. Elke De Clerck

Global Research & development director - Moderator

Dr. Elke De Clerck holds a PhD degree in Biotechnology. She has over 10 years of experience in several Research and Development roles in Food and Pharma business before joining Rousselot in 2010 where she served in a variety of roles. In January 2020, she became Global Research & Development Director. 

Dr. Jeff Daelman

Business Development Manager Innovations

Dr. Jeff Daelman graduated as a Bio-Engineer in Food Technology and Nutrition at Ghent University in 2009 and obtained his Doctoral Degree in Applied Biological Sciences at the same university in 2013 with an expertise in Food Safety and Predictive Microbiology. He then transferred to the pharmaceutical industry as a Project Engineer at Pifzer’s Puurs plant, tasked with process validation for parenteral products. In 2016 he joined Rousselot as a Product and Business Development Manager focusing on business development for Food products in EMEA and providing technical support to clients in the Middle-East, Africa and Central- & Eastern-Europe. Since October 2019, he has been Business Development Manager Innovations within Rousselot Biomedical.

Ir. Cyril van Robais

Vice President Europe

Cyril van Robais is an international business developer with more than 15 years of experience. He is in charge of the european operations for Rheolution with two main markets in his portfolio : Life Science and Food industry.  Before joining Rheolution in 2018, he spent 8 years with Tecnal, a French manufacturer of cheese production equipment, as export manager in charge of export development and sales network organization. Cyril has a deep experience with the active European market of Agri-Food and has developed his expertise in the life Science research and industry field. Cyril is engineer graduated from Ecole supérieure d'Ingénieurs en Electrotechnique et Electronique ESTE ESIEE (Paris), he has finished his studies at the Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences (Germany) and speaks English, Italian, French and German.

Dr. Bjorn Vergauwen

Scientist Director Product and Process Development

Dr. Bjorn Vergauwen is Scientific Director Product and Process Development at Rousselot. He currently coordinates R&D projects aiming at unlocking the unmet potential of gelatin. His main expertise relates to the biophysical and biochemical principles underpinning gelatin’s behavior in food and pharma applications and to its use in pharmaceutical dosage forms.

Dr Vergauwen has a PhD in biochemistry from Ghent University, Belgium. Before joining Rousselot in 2014, he had several missions as Post-Doctoral Researcher at Ghent University where he conducted research in enzymology and structural biology for 17 years.

Dr. Jakub Lewicki


Jakub Lewicki, Customer Success Engineer at Allevi. He received his PhD degree in neuroscience from Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden. Jakub has over 5 years of experience in bioprinting, biomaterials and stem cells together with a background in biotechnology engineering.

Dr. ir. Jan Schrooten

Co-Founder & CEO 

Dr. ir. Jan Schrooten is co-founder and CEO of Antleron, a young R&D company on a mission to enable personalized manufacturing in the domain of advanced therapies. Previously, he was senior research manager at KU Leuven (Belgium), responsible for the long-term management and technology transfer of biomaterials and tissue engineering research. Trained as a materials engineer, with an engineering PhD in biomaterials and a postgraduate in business administration, he has 25+ years of research experience in biomaterials and tissue engineering. He co-founded and managed for 8 years Prometheus, the KU Leuven R&D division of Skeletal Tissue Engineering. His work has been disseminated in 180+ peer reviewed international journal publications, chapters and conference proceedings. He is a member of the Editorial Board of the journals ‘Tissue Engineering, Parts A, B & C’ and ‘Advanced Biomaterials and Devices in Medicine’.
