Meeting the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals
The focus on Health & Well-being in our Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) program ties in directly with the 3rd and 12th of the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages
We contribute directly to this UN goal with our gelatin- and collagen-based solutions for the food, nutrition, pharmaceutical, and biomedical industries.
Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns
In creating value from collagen-rich raw materials, we operate a sustainable production process that aims, consistently and progressively, to do ‘more with less’. Quality is key to ensure safe products and we follow strict production guidelines and comply with all applicable laws and regulations.
Our targets for Health & Well-being
While Health & Well-being are at the heart of our business, we set explicit ESG goals for this area every year.
Target #1: One health innovation every year
We aim to do this with at least one health-related innovation every year. These innovations may be new products, new scientific studies or co-development projects achieved with our customers. In recent years, we have developed many new products that contribute to this goal.
Target #2: Higher quality performance scores across all our sites
Contributing to people’s health and well-being requires flawless quality. With this in mind, we launched our Quality Mindset program in 2019 and we will continue moving forward with this program.
Our motto: “Think, behave, share responsibility and act as one team to consistently ensure quality”. Since 2019, our four regional operations have implemented new actions and tools to reinforce this mindset at all levels of their organization.
