'JOINING ROUSSELOT WAS A REAL CHANGE'

A shock to the system

‘My path to Rousselot began over a decade ago. After graduating from business school with a degree in marketing communication, studying in Paris, Oxford, and Berlin, I mostly worked for IT companies in France. Then, in 2007, I joined Rousselot, taking charge of its communications. It was quite a change! After dealing with hardware and software, I had to learn all about marshmallows and gummies. To be honest, I did not know a lot about them, only from tasting experience. But the team here was so passionate about gelatin, I quickly learned how exciting it really is, and all the different stories there are to explore and tell about it.’

Aiming to be ‘Number One’

‘At Rousselot, one of our aims is to be the world’s number one producer of collagen-based solutions. But what does that mean? Is it based on the volume we produce, the value we offer, or the number of customers we serve? And how can we communicate this to our followers? Often, it can depend on the location: for example, in China, businesses like to work with the number one producer in terms of volume, so we are proud to offer that. But there are other factors too: it’s also vital to highlight our focus on innovation and sustainability. Being ‘number one’ means making progress, always moving forward – as we are with our biomedical innovations, or in the steps we are taking to help look after the planet. We need to show all of this to our partners and potential customers.’

The key for corporate communication

‘What are the key factors for communicating as a big corporation? Simple: being visible, being consistent, and bringing a fresh message to the market. For example, it’s important to be transparent and clear about Corporate Social Responsibility, highlighting the sustainability of our products, while sharing the specific and tangible goals we are setting. A part of this is that we have aligned our work with the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – to underline our interdependency with the world around us, and that, step-by-step, we are working to improve our relationship with it.’

A personal believer

‘I take Peptan myself, of course: we all take it and believe in it here. For me, it’s important in terms of prevention, especially for my mobility. I always recommend it to my friends and family too. It’s clear that more and more people are learning about the benefits of collagen peptides, both through word-of-mouth and educative communications, and it’s important to keep fostering this. I truly believe collagen and gelatin can play a key role in our world, and I enjoy pushing this forward every day.
