Cross-disciplinary, collaborative and flexible by default

Innovation on today’s markets is cross-disciplinary by default. We attract scientific and technical profiles, who combine deep knowledge of their own particular specializations with an eagerness and ability to merge their insights with those from other disciplines and fields. This enables us as a company to take our knowledge of food, pharma, process technology and technical fields, nutrition, and the biomedical sector to its limits – and to explore the many gaps opening up between and beyond conventional boundaries.

This broad-minded specialization brings with it an attitude that is explorative, collaborative and flexible. These qualities characterize our colleagues, teams and our adaptive structure, while making it easy for customers and new prospects to connect their potential with ours. As a global brand, we keep our facilities and people close together and close to our markets and customers, with research and application labs, pilot facilities and production plants around the world working hand-in-hand on new products, process and studies that will yield tomorrow’s innovations.

  • Prominent players in the food, pharma, nutrition and biomedical sciences
  • Specialists with strong cross-disciplinary abilities
  • Explorative, collaborative and flexible

A sampling of our science

By fusing challenges and insights from different sciences and markets, we create powerful synergies. Below is a sampling of the disciplines represented at Rousselot and how they converge in our push for innovation.

Food Science

At our three Application Labs, we work from a deep understanding of the collagen peptides and gelatin molecules and their behavior in food, nutrition and pharma applications. This enables us to create many new food products and solutions and new delivery forms, while offering hands-on formulation support to our customers.

Chemistry

Our chemists engage in both fundamental and applied research, often working with renowned research institutes around the world, and representing fields as diverse as analytical, bio and protein chemistry. As a global leader, we have outstanding tools and methods at our disposal, from process equipment for food and nutrition to advanced analytical tools for measuring material behavior in changing conditions, and much more.

Nutritional science

The nutritional scientists at our three Application Labs are constantly exploring and developing new gelatin and collagen recipes based on nutritional needs and opportunities. By combining science with constantly updated knowledge of regulations, we can ensure that the nutritional claims we attach to the recipes we design – for example, ‘high in protein’ – are scientifically backed and legally valid.

Preclinical science

For new product development and proof of principle experiments, we are well-versed in investigating the mechanisms of action belonging to our materials and products.

Clinical science

With both manufacturers and consumers placing high demands on scientific evidence for health claims, we work hard to investigate the health benefits and potential of our products, with protocols covering everything from randomized, placebo-controlled and double-blind designs over open label to consumer studies integrating a more real-world approach.

Sensory science

We can deliver the precise quality and properties our customers require for their products, thanks to the work of our specially trained experts and their application of a science-based sensory methodology and strict quality protocols for consistent sensory outcomes and fingerprints.

Biomaterial science

In the exciting and rapidly growing world of biomaterial science, we collaborate with product designers to create purified, GMP-quality biomaterials – including custom biomaterials – for use in pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and even cell and gene therapy products.

Biology

Cell Biology is one of the areas of great interest when designing biomedical solutions with true added value. Our knowledge in this field enables us to make a contribution to stem cell bioengineering or organ-on-a-chip applications, to name a few.

Engineering

The development of new products goes hand-in-hand with the design of appropriate production processes. Our engineers have made important contributions with their innovative approach to processes.
