To mark International Women’s Day 2024, we spoke to some of the many women working at Rousselot. In this series, they share their thoughts on their experiences at the company, offer advice to young women aspiring to work in the industry, and much more. In this final edition, we meet Viviane D’Avila, Technical Sales Manager at @Gelnex Gelatin.

When did you start at Rousselot/Gelnex?

‘I started in April 1999. My first role was overseeing the company’s analysis laboratory.’

What would be your advice for a young girl who would like to work in the industry?

‘Go ahead! There are many opportunities waiting for you. It feels like every day the industry is always being transformed by new technologies and fields. Try to identify what really interests you and what you imagine yourself doing: a career that’s aligned with your interests and skills makes the journey lighter. Here are three tips for a successful and fulfilling career:

  1. Make sure you can adapt. Changes will happen along the way. Accepting and adapting to them are key to your professional and personal growth.

  2. Learn how to work in a team and be collaborative - teamwork gets the best results.

  3. Always act with integrity and ethics.’

Why do you think Rousselot/Gelnex is a welcoming company for women?

‘Across the years, I have seen first-hand that Gelnex is committed to promoting women’s inclusion throughout the company, from production lines to leadership positions. There are women working as production operators, engineers, and coordinators, as well as in administrative occupations. Regardless of the position, we all experience a respectful and welcoming environment at Gelnex.

‘Promoting equal conditions for women in the industry is of vital importance, as it strengthens societal participation and boosts women’s contribution to the economy. Companies that adopt diversity and inclusion are more innovative, dynamic, collaborative, and have a better organizational environment.’

Anything else you want to share…

‘I wish that many women can pursue their dreams and have the opportunity to develop their careers, just as I have done.’
