As the collagen trend continues to soar, one question needs to be answered: how long will it last? In her talk, Florencia Moreno Torres, Market Analyst at Rousselot Health & Nutrition, looked at this question in detail.

Florencia highlighted the rising awareness of collagen on social media, where it is quickly becoming a need-to-know ingredient. For example, #collagen now has over 7 million posts on Instagram.   • Market size is increasing exponentially, despite the dip due to COVID-19
  • 5.9% of health and nutrition supplements feature collagen, with a CAGR of 33% (2015-19)

Beyond the trends, speakers also looked at the function of collagen within sports nutrition. Dr. Tom Clifford, Lecturer in Physiology and Nutrition, Loughborough University (UK), reviewed the unique properties of collagen peptides that have led to its emergence in the sports nutrition market.
